Similar to last year, Richard had been waiting all year for just the right project for a family to be blessed from our families’ Christmas money (from Christmas of 2016). It just happened that the timing of when Richard found a family to receive the special blessing was when one of our daughters who donated their Christmas funds, along with her family, were going to be in Los Cabos for the first time. It was a very special occasion for our daughter, Katy, and grandchildren, Ryann and Ross, to actually be able to be a part of the event that greatly blessed a special family of four.
When the night came, the family in need had made a list of what each member of their family really wanted. The father, Ramundo, was starting to play basketball with the men at Pastor Carlos’ church and needed a good pair of tennis shoes; his wife and their daughter wanted something beautiful to wear and their teenage son needed running shoes, as well (which they never could have afforded otherwise). You should have seen their faces light up!
After going from store to store, we bought what we could, with Ramundo and his family finishing their purchases the next day. We topped the evening off with dinner at Campestre−a favorite affordable restaurant for both locals and North Americans. Even with the affordability of the restaurant, Ramundo looked at the menu and food with amazement and said, “We’ve never eaten at a restaurant like this!” A little goes a long ways and is a great blessing to those who have little.
Thank-you Katy and Sara, along with your families, for your second year of being a blessing to a precious family—as well as being a blessing to us! Merry Christmas!
