‘Bad Medicine’ is the name of the fishing boat owned by Richard’s friend Chris. Earlier in the summer, Richard had it on his heart to ask Chris what he thought of taking the young men on the praise team at Tierra y Libertad out on a deep sea fishing trip. He wanted to give them an experience that they might not have otherwise.
At the time, it was impossible to coordinate the schedules of all five members of the praise team with Richard and Chris’ schedules, but just recently, there was an opening to take Sammy and Charlie (formerly Carlitos) out on Bad Medicine. Chris had been asked by an old friend in the states to show the man’s nephew and his friend around Los Cabos. Bad Medicine can only handle four fishermen at a time, so Chris―remembering the conversation with Richard earlier in the year―made the offer to Richard to take two of the young men from the praise team, while Chris entertained Samuel and Caleb.
Chris is a serious fisherman and he’s been fishing out of the Cabo Marina for over twenty years. They all met at the marina at 8:00 a.m. and weren’t seen again until 3:00 p.m. Chris keeps going until he gets fish for his friends! Sammy was blessed with a 4-foot sailfish (which they released) and Caleb pulled in a 9-foot Marlin―talk about excitement! Chris usually releases billfish, but the Marlin was injured by the gaff hook, so everyone was sent home with fresh Marlin meat. The young men had an experience they will talk about for years!
We do want to thank our friend Chris for his giving heart. He uses his crew, his gas, and his time to serve others. Chris just loves blessing others!
