Meet Marla Haack

I was given the honor of helping to pray for women at Marla Haack’s women’s conference last year. The conference was held at Pastor Luis Benavides’ Church. Marla and her husband, Larry, have a healing and deliverance ministry in the Chicago, IL area and minister for several weeks each year in the Los Cabos area. They have made the trip to minister here each year for the past 12 years.

I was again honored to pray with Marla this year, as well as help find translators for the conference. We were blessed by having two ladies from Cabo English Church translate for us; Lupe Hernandez and her friend Suzanne, both having healing ministries of their own. Marla gave a compelling word and the ladies were eager for prayer. We prayed for the Lord to touch and heal many from past emotional wounds, as well as prayed for several physical needs.

Pastor Benavides’ wife, Mary, and her ladies served a very nice luncheon and the event was a success as usual!

Working to Rebuild Pastor Miguel’s House

It is that time of year again; the time for Shane Crowley (and his wife Tracey, who works besides him) to again wow Los Cabos with masonry skills. The local brothers who are so graciously working on the project with Shane and Tracey can barely keep up with them and Pastor Carlos is having a difficult time keeping them supplied with cement blocks--in what is still--post hurricane building supply conditions.

This is the second mission trip to Los Cabos for Shane and Tracey, and even before they knew they were coming back again, Pastor Carlos had been asking if they would be returning.  We, along with Pastor Carlos, had a burden to rebuild Pastor Miguel’s house, which was completely swept away into Cabo Valle by Hurricane Odile and he knew Shane was the man for the job.

Shane and Tracey, along with a group of Pastor Carlos’ faithful men, are working daily at the site even as I’m writing this blog. Shane and Tracey were also able to bring down the majority of the funds to build the house from friends in the West Michigan area, including friends from their home church, Kainay in Muskegon, MI.

Shane’s business, Crowley Masonry of Fremont, MI, and money from the 7M Mission Fund we help supervise brought in the rest of the projected budget. What a great victory for the work of the Lord! A big thank-you to anyone who gave to either of the fund raising efforts!

The pictures I’m sharing today are just the excavating of what was left of the old foundation and the beginning of the new. I’ll keep you posted until the house is completed, so you can rejoice with us!

Blessed by Friends

We were recently blessed to have Richard’s best friend from high school, Rick Cramblet, his wife Nancy, our dental hygienist and friend from Michigan, Nancy Schneider, and her husband, Rick, in the Los Cabos area.

You are absolutely right! We had three Richards and two Nancys. I felt left out being a Rhonda. J

On one Tuesday during their visit, we all went to Cabo Church’s Tierra y Libertad feeding station. There, Nancy S. gave a dental demonstration for the kids. The kids just loved her! She handed out stickers to the children and we had tooth brushes and toothpaste to distribute to the children, as well.

By the way, there’s a fun story behind the toothpaste. Richard was talking to a couple on the plane ride home from Christmas in Michigan. As Richard shared what we do down here, she asked if we had a need for toothpaste. He shared about the upcoming dental demonstration and that we would love to have the toothpaste. Right in the Los Cabos airport, this kind sister in the Lord opened her suitcase and gave us approximately one hundred tubes of toothpaste. Now that’s a divine appointment!

Cristo es el Camino - Tierra y Libertad Church Plant

Sunday, January 18 was the opening event for Pastor Carlos Maciel’s fourth church plant! I believe I’ve stated it before, but Pastor Carlos’ vision is to set fires all over the barrios until they ignite into one large fire. With this vision in mind, Pastor Carlos and his faithful men know how to make empty barrio lots and pallets look good! The new property for the church is nice and square and made up of two nice-sized lots. His men put a two-pallet high fence around the property and cleaned and leveled the land. They put up tarps for shade and brought in chairs from the other three churches (to go along with the forty plus chairs we, as a ministry, had purchased for this new church plant).

When Richard and I arrived, Pastor Carlos said, “This is going to be big.” He could feel the excitement in his spirit and knew that what God is going to do with this new church plant is going to be big. In full agreement, my reply was, “I know it’s going to be big. In my spirit, I’ve seen large groups of people coming into this church. Really big.”

We started going around the neighborhood at 9:00 a.m. The festivities started at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Carlos welcomed all the newcomers and residents of Tierra y Libertad, as well as identified the attendees of his existing churches. Excitement filled the air. There was great worship music playing through the sound system (brought over from the mother Church).  Soon the praise team began.

The Holy Spirit honored us with His presence and many people were touched. When Pastor Carlos gave the altar call for salvation, healing, broken heartedness, marriages, family problems, finances, etc., several people came forward, some which attend the Cabo Church feeding station program on Tuesday mornings.

After the service, they had a great church dinner for the combined church families, as well as the newcomers. Pastor Carlos also graced the newcomers with a table set up for free clothing and shoes. It was a great time and the effect of the ministry to this greatly impoverished, depressed area was fabulous.

I can’t thank the Lord enough for what He has done, is currently doing, and will continue to do in Los Cabos—until the area is transformed by the power of God. I also can’t thank Him enough for entrusting Richard and I to impart to and care for this area and for the inexpressible joy of being chosen to be a part of what God is doing in Los Cabos, MX.
